Brother James Gaffney, F.S.C.

Br. James Gaffney, F.S.C., is the President Emeritus of Lewis University, a Catholic and Lasallian university in suburban Chicago. He also serves as a member of eight boards of directors, mostly at Catholic educational institutions regionally and nationally. He chairs four of those boards. Earlier he served for 11 years as Provincial Superior for the Chicago Province of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and for nearly thirty years as President of Lewis University. Guided by the Catholic and Lasallian Mission of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, he led Lewis University to become a major Catholic university in the Midwest.
